In winter 2003 we received a commission. The task was to get more people interested in higher education of art and design. More people, from new groups, not only the ones that already knew about the schools and the occupation since they were kids.
The application catalogue from Konstfack (University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, Stockholm) was like a grey wall. A good-looking grey wall in deed, but nothing you have the energy to penetrate if you do not already know what Konstfack is about. We got money to design a poster to attach with the catalogue, but after some discussion we realised that a film would probably inform better and be more entertaining in shorter time. To do a film for the budget of a poster was a challenge, but it worked and the DVD "Konstfack-utbildningar inom konst och design" is now in the hand of art teachers and curators at 600 high schools around Sweden.
In the next step we decided to get help from our colleagues and former schoolmates to try to search for people interested in art and design, but not aware of the education. To raise questions about whom art and design really concern. We received many proposals for activities from the invited artists and selected 10 that would contribute to realise different projects within the theme during fall 2004.
To further increase the spread of the people that could engage with the projects we chose to compile the whole project into a exhibition that with the help from Svensk Form could travel around Sweden. The title of the exhibition became “Please Disturb!” and with it an extensive catalogue was produced.
Muungano designed the exhibition and was responsible of the management of the whole project. A lot of people contributed to realise the project.
